Mobile Rotary Drum Vacuum Filtration |
For the most efficient and economic recovery of lees
Turning winery waste into valuable product is becoming an essential part of good winemaking practices. Vintech Pacific's Mobile Rotary Drum Vacuum Filtration units are ideal for the recovery of usable wine or juice from juice lees, bentonite lees, racking lees, barrel lees and fermenting wine.
The RDV filtration process recovers juice and wine for the lees that you normally would discard.
As much as 80 percent of juice from lees that was one dumped down the drain can now be kept – all adding to the yield per tonne.
Rotary drum vacuum technology utilises a stainless steel drum with a screen on the outside and a partial vacuum on the inside; the drum is coated with a layer of diatomaceous earth (DE) that provides the filter medium. The drum is positioned in a trough through which the juice or wine flows, and the pressure differential pulls the liquid through the DE, trapping the solids. As the outside surface of the DE layer accumulates lees and starts to clog, it is continually shaved off, making a fresh surface available. The filtered juice is pumped off to be used in the wine making process.
